Hello! I am so glad you are interested in Ryder Creed and Winnie,
Reckless Creed will be released September 27th and I can’t wait to share it with you. This is the third book in the Ryder Creed series, and I have to tell you, it surprised in a way I never expected.
Several years ago I read about an organization that’s training dogs to detect cancer. The dogs have been remarkably successful, in some cases detecting certain cancers at an earlier stage than any lab tests. That was right about the time of the Ebola outbreak in 2014, and the arrival of the first Ebola patient at the University Nebraska Medical Center here in Omaha. Deadly viruses fascinate me as much as they terrify me, and I started to wonder if dogs could be trained to detect them. And what if millions of lives depended on it?
It was an exciting premise—the clock is ticking and Ryder Creed must train his dogs to prevent a dangerous outbreak. He’s trained dogs to search for the lost and the dead, to detect illegal drugs and explosives. Teaching them to sniff out a virus should be a cinch, right?
But there’s one thing I never considered until I was a third of the way through the manuscript. Can dogs sniff and detect a virus without becoming infected themselves? Suddenly Ryder Creed’s panic became my own.
I invite you to come along for yet another thrilling ride with Ryder, Maggie, and Grace.
As always, thank you for reading,
