Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season. Have you started watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel? For me it’s the holiday baking championships. I love those!
For all of us, this holiday season will be different, to say the least. This is one of those times that making a list of what we’re grateful for might come in handy. A Gratitude List! Put it up somewhere. Look at it. Often. Add to it when you’re frustrated. My mother and grandmother would say it a bit differently: “Count your blessings.”
This Thanksgiving, you and all of my readers are certainly on my list of blessings. During some of the most difficult times in my life you have been there supporting me and my family without even knowing. It’s been because of you, that I’m able to write and share my twisted tales.
So thank you! I appreciate it more than words allow.
SPECIAL READER GIFTS
Knowing this will be a crazy shopping year, Deb and I have stocked our Web Shop with one-of-a-kind gifts. And of course, there are always books!
CRIME SCENE SCARF
I’m so excited to finally share with you our very own VIR Club CRIME SCENE SCARF.
Years ago I found a similar scarf and bought a few to give as gifts. They were a huge hit, but difficult to find. It’s taken us almost two years, but we FINALLY have a custom printed scarf just for our VIR Club members.
These are soft and warm. They’re a high quality, jacquard knit scarf with print on both sides that’s woven in, not stamped on. The size is the same as a traditional scarf: 7-1/2” wide x 65” long.
You can be sure this will be a one-of-a-kind gift for anyone on your list. But you’re going to want one for yourself, too. Supply is limited so order early.
READER SOCKS: Shhhh…I’m reading Alex Kava
We started offering these socks last year, and they were such a hit we ran out. We now have two sizes, but again, supplies are limited.
Those of you who buy my hardcovers directly from our Web Shop already know that I include a special limited edition bookmark with each new title. We’ve added some special Christmas/Holiday ones. These are grosgrain ribbon with metal and enamel charms. They’re very limited editions so when they’re gone, they’re gone!
And of course, our popular and exclusive CRIME SCENE bookmark is also available.
A NEW READER TOTE BAG
We’ve been offering this tote bag for a while. I love the size, quality (zippers are a must for me) and the brilliant color. This year we added a new saying: I’D RATHER BE READING ALEX KAVA.” Check it out here…
And we have our ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PACKAGE DEAL… This year we have two!
GIVE THE GIFT OF READING
Don’t forget to check out the book section. A bunch of hardcovers are discounted for $6.99/each. Remember I’ll personalize and autograph each one, so it will truly be a one-of-a-kind gift.
As crazy as this year has been, I hope there’s something in our Web Shop to bring you a sense of joy, whether you’re giving a gift to a friend or buying one for yourself.
Check out any of the items here…
DON’T FORGET THE DOGS.
SOME TURKEY…PRETTY PLEASE?!
Thanksgiving’s feast is a mixture of aromas that’s hard to resist. It can turn the best behaved dogs into beggars. Did you know that most veterinarians have their busiest day the Monday after Thanksgiving? Here are some tips for safely sharing with your dogs.
Tips to Safely Share Thanksgiving
- A small piece or two of white turkey meat is okay. No skin. No gravy. No dressing. The herbs, onion and garlic can be toxic.
- Sweet potatoes and green beans are okay, but give them a bite BEFORE you mix in the other ingredients.
- Canned pumpkin helps a dog’s digestion, but only a dollop.
- Put anything you give them in their bowl, preferably at one sitting, and then they’re done. Don’t let your guests feed them bites.
- Keep to their regular feeding and exercise schedule for the day. Have plenty of fresh water available.
- Secure all trash, so your dog can’t get at bones, plastic utensils, paper plates or aluminum foil. Yes, that stuff does smell good enough to eat.
And of course, always check with your veterinarian.
